Mid Century Studio Stoneware Vase by Mask Pottery, St Ives

£65.00
sold out

A large studio stoneware vase with an abstract design and high gloss glaze. Offered in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or damage. Stamped near the base, the stamp is very difficult to make out after much research we have concluded that it is from the Mask pottery in St Ives, Cornwall.

The Mask Pottery operated from 1958 to around 1972 in St Ives, Cornwall. It was run by Jess Val Baker. Jess attended a pottery course at Penzance School of Art where she was tutored by Michael Leach. She then went on to set up the Mask Pottery at St Ives in 1958, It subsequently moved to Penzance and was sold in 1968 when the Val Bakers moved to the Wheelcat Pottery in Fowey, renaming it the Millstream Pottery. She finally gave up potting in 1972.

Measures 30cm tall and approximately 14cm diameter at the widest point in the center.
